Charles Hoile is to provide fixed price family services from the New Year 2012, as it prepares to compete with non-legal players entering the profession and the cuts in legal aid availability.

Getting divorced is a stressful time, both emotionally and financially. Charles Hoile will offer staged fees for divorce and related financial and children matters. These will be calculated up front to ensure clients receive a professional service at a reasonable cost, without any hidden surprises.

Alexandra Scott-Malden, partner in the family department, says that the old system of charging on an hourly basis is now outmoded and clients need to be able to budget for family cases, particularly in the current difficult economic times.

The firm has been providing legal advice to the local community for over 50 years. Now it is looking to evolve further to keep attracting clients and distinguish itself from other local competitors.
Transparency on costs is seen as key to that.

To kick start the scheme, Alexandra Scott-Malden and Anna Cowdry, the two partners in the family department, are offering free “Options” meetings for the month of January 2012. At these meetings clients will be able to discuss the case with a solicitor who will then set out their options, provide legal advice on those and payment plans in order to fund the work.
